CARING FOR YOUR NEW HOME

Carpet

No matter the level of carpet you have chosen for your home, proper maintenance will extend the life of your carpet. A good rule of thumb for vacuuming your carpet is the number of times of weekly vacuuming should equal the amount of people in your home. A family of four should vacuum their carpet four times a week to keep it clean. Visit the Shaw Floors link for more details and troubleshooting on how to care for your carpet.

Granite
Since granite is a natural stone, it will require more maintenance than the other countertop surfaces. Maintenance is the main disadvantage of granite countertops, but when properly maintained granite is fairly easy to keep clean.

Cabinetry

One of the last things we consider cleaning and maintaining is our cabinetry, but you may want to consider it. Your cabinetry is the most permanent furniture in your home. Most cabinetry is made from natural wood products and will need some care.
